It is July 31st. It is Friday and time is weird. Tomorrow is August, which marks the beginning of Birthday Month! There is a cocktail called “40 is the new 20”, but I have only the vodka part of that recipe so I had to think of something else. I also wanted to use my new (to me) glass shaker, unfortunately it leaks like sieve. But it is pretty and did a good job with this tart cocktail that really does need that sugar rim. I like this cocktail. Plenty of ways to personalise and perfect. I neglected to grate some lime zest over the top of this and will do that next time.
The Lime Drop Martini
- 3 oz vodka
- 1.5 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 1-2 teaspoons of sugar plus sugar for rim
Put sugar in shallow dish, run some lime wedge over the glass rim, then rub the glass into the sugar to coat
Pour lime juice into shaker and add superfine sugar and stir and let dissolve
Add ice, vodka and Cointreau. Shake, strain and serve!
