At the end of 2019 there were murmurs of a new virus going around. By March 2020 the Corona virus was spreading rapidly, unimaginable things were happening and there were almost daily news updates. To get through these press conferences I decided I needed a drink. However, I didn’t want to drink alone. So, once the borders were shut down and I was working from home a few days a week, I started separating my work day from “normal” life by making one cocktail. When I was done work, I would research a cocktail, based on ingredients I had on hand (because we were not supposed to go out so much), and I would share the cocktail on Instagram and Facebook. I called it “Drinks with Dalby”. It made me feel less alone to share these online, and it turned into a wonderful way to reconnect with many old friends.
Some people started joking that I should turn the posts into a book, and so I started putting that together, but realised I had no platform for hosting the book. I also had a lot of bookmarked pages of information about the history of drinks, and other random things. So I figured, why not make a site to keep all these bits and pieces together, and to add new drinks and host the book when it is ready. And so this website was born.
Enjoy responsibly.
Love,
Dalby
